CITADELLE - Reserve - Aged Gin - 45.20%
Citadelle Gin is a French gin produced at Château de Bonbonnet by Maison Ferrand . In 1989, Alexandre Gabriel founded the company with the philosophy of preserving ancient production methods that capture the true expression of the spirit, and committed to reinventing classics while promoting innovation. In 1996, Alexandre created Citadelle gin, the precursor to French gin, launching a veritable gin movement in France. Due to the strict regulations imposed by the AOC Cognac (his first spirit), Alexandre Gabriel was forced to stop using his stills for seven months of the year. After five long years of negotiations, he obtained permission to distill gin during the usual resting period of traditional Charentais copper stills, giving them a new life.
Citadelle Réserve is aged in rare wood barrels. In 2008, Alexandre Gabriel reinvented the forgotten technique of aging gin in wooden barrels. After several years of experimentation, he discovered the ideal formula: 5 months of aging in acacia, mulberry, cherry, chestnut and French oak barrels , before being blended in a patented 2.5 meter high wooden egg for greater smoothness and roundness.
"A gin with a modern soul. The giant wooden egg finish brings a silky texture and unique harmony. Savor slowly, like a fine whisky."
