Champagne Oudiette - Les Caourdets 2021
The Oudiette estate is located in Beaunay, in the Marne Valley in Champagne . Founded nearly 100 years ago, it is now run by Maxime, Pascal and Sylvie Oudiette . The estate covers approximately 4 hectares , spread between Beaunay and Celles-lès-Condé, and the average age of the vineyard is 39 years. Within the estate, the Napoleonic land register of 1821 is used to identify and name the plots. More precise and less simplified than the current administrative land register, it allows for a better understanding of local ecosystems and microclimates.
Les Caourdets is made from Chardonnay from the eponymous plot planted in 1984. The soils of the Les Caourdets plot are worked under the vines only, the remainder being protected by a cover naturally planted with native plants. This Blanc de Blancs comes from the 2021 harvest. The wine is aged for 11 months in 228-liter barrels then 30 months on slats . It was disgorged in October 2024 and bottled with an Extra-Brut dosage of 1.5 g/L .
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
"Les Caourdets 2021 embodies the finesse and straightforwardness of Chardonnay on chalky terroir. The nose evokes acacia blossom, candied lemon, and a subtle smoky note. On the palate, the attack is lively and tense, with a fluid texture and marked minerality."
