Domaine de Lorient - Saint-Péray 2024
Domaine de Lorient is located in Saint-Péray, in the northern Rhône . It was founded in 2014 by Laure Colombo (Jean-Luc Colombo's daughter) and her partner Dimitri Roulleau-Gallais . The couple is committed to a vision of a winegrowing farm combining organic viticulture, mixed farming and livestock farming. The farm covers approximately 5 hectares of vines , to which are added orchards, beehives, vegetable garden and animals (sheep, cows, chickens, etc.). The vineyard is certified organic with biodynamic and permaculture practices. All work is carried out by hand, from harvest to winery, with minimal use of sulfites and indigenous yeasts.
Saint-Péray is a blend of Roussanne (70%) and Marsanne (30%) grown on the granite part of Saint-Péray called "gore". The grapes are pressed directly and the juice is transferred to stainless steel vats . After settling, fermentation takes place in 228 and 400 litre barrels . The wine is returned to the vat until spring and bottled before summer.
Grape varieties: 70% Roussanne, 30% Marsanne
"The 2024 Saint-Péray from Domaine de Lorient offers a pure and vibrant expression of Ardèche granite. The balance between the richness of Roussanne and the liveliness of Marsanne is fully expressed."
