RHUM CLEMENT - Mahina Coco - 18%
The Clément house is among the great historic signatures of Martinican agricultural rum, firmly rooted at the Habitation du Simon in François. Over generations, it has developed a universe where pure AOC cane juice is expressed in tasting rums and emblematic Creole liqueurs. Mahina Coco fits into this gourmet vein, as an immediate evocation of tropical evenings and Martinican beaches. This creation marries the tradition of Clément agricultural rum with the sweetness of coconut in a light alcohol version, designed for pleasure and conviviality. With its sunny aromas and creamy texture, it embodies the cocktail spirit of the house, accessible and generous while retaining Clément’s elegant signature. Mahina Coco 18% has thus become a staple of rum bars as well as exotic aperitifs at home.
Clément Mahina Coco 18% is made from Martinique AOC white agricultural rum, derived from freshly pressed pure cane juice, combined with natural coconut extracts and a touch of cane sugar. This infusion and blending work aims to achieve an intensely coconut aromatic profile, perfectly balanced by the dry and vegetal framework of the agricultural rum. The moderate eighteen percent alcohol content makes Mahina Coco an easy-to-enjoy liqueur, ideal both neat and in cocktails, without losing gustatory intensity. The recipe favors a supple and slightly creamy mouthfeel while remaining fluid, to facilitate mixing and maintain a nice freshness. The whole is refined in tanks to homogenize the aromas and stabilize the liqueur before bottling. The result is an exotic, precise, very clear spirit drink that puts coconut at the center of the glass without superfluous artifice.
On tasting, Clément Mahina Coco 18% shows a milky white and luminous color that immediately evokes fresh coconut flesh. The nose is intense, gourmand, with grated coconut, coconut milk, and a touch of vanilla, with a background hint of agricultural rum that adds relief and depth. On the palate, the attack is soft and enveloping, with a creamy but never heavy texture, carried by a clear, slightly sweet coconut flavor, balanced by the liveliness of cane rum. The finish is tender, fresh, extended by notes of milky coconut and a slight return of sweet cane that leaves the palate clean. Served well chilled or on ice, Mahina Coco wonderfully accompanies an exotic dessert, a tropical fruit salad, a pineapple coconut tart, or crepes. It also shines in cocktails, in a revisited Piña Colada, as a long drink with pineapple juice, or as a gourmet touch in an iced coffee for a decidedly Creole signature.
