Champagne Gaspard Brochet - L'Abreuvoir - Vintage 2016 - Volume 1 - Jeroboam
Based in Villers-aux-Nœuds, Gaspard Brochet pursues an artisanal and demanding approach that is now a reference among the young winemakers of the Montagne de Reims. His work is based on a fine understanding of the terroirs of Écueil, Sacy, and Villers-aux-Nœuds, which he interprets through confidential cuvées produced in very small volumes. With L'Abreuvoir – Volume 1, the estate inaugurates a new vintage cuvée marking an important step in its evolution. Made from the remarkable 2016 vintage and benefiting from a long aging, this first edition expresses all the depth and maturity that time offers in Champagne. Presented here in jeroboam, an emblematic format for great celebrations and long aging, this cuvée acquires an even more exceptional dimension. Only one bottle is available, making this a true collector's piece intended for the most demanding enthusiasts and fine dining tables.
L'Abreuvoir Volume 1 in Jeroboam (3 liters) is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from the Premier Cru terroirs of Écueil and Sacy, on predominantly sandy soils that bring finesse and elegance to the whole. True to the estate's philosophy, vinification is carried out with minimal intervention to preserve the personality of the vintage and terroirs. The wine is made without fining, filtration, or racking, thus retaining all its natural richness and aromatic depth. This cuvée benefits from long aging on lees, allowing it to develop remarkable complexity while maintaining great freshness. The jeroboam format further amplifies this potential, thanks to a slower and more harmonious evolution of the wine over time. This privileged maturation offers a particularly accomplished expression of the 2016 vintage and gives this bottle exceptional aging potential.
On tasting, L'Abreuvoir reveals a majestic and deeply refined expression. The nose unveils complex aromas of ripe yellow fruits, dried fruits, candied citrus, brioche, and fine pastries, enriched by toasted and spicy nuances from the long aging. The palate impresses with its breadth, creamy texture, and depth, while maintaining remarkable tension that brings balance and precision. The Pinot Noir structures the whole with elegance while the Chardonnay brings brightness and freshness. The bubbles, perfectly integrated, accompany a long, saline, and persistent finish that testifies to the exceptional potential of this cuvée. Intended for great occasions, this jeroboam will enhance the most refined dishes, from noble shellfish to truffled poultry and fine gastronomy. More than just a container, this rare format magnifies the tasting experience and transforms this cuvée into a true prestige object.
