DBM - Bonne-Mère Distillery - Old Rum - VSOP - 43%
Located in Guadeloupe, in Sainte-Rose, the Bonne-Mère Distillery (DBM) is today positioned as a major figure in artisanal spirits in the Caribbean archipelago. A historic player in the region, it recently entered the metropolitan market in 2024. Its approach is part of a balance between tradition, innovation, and quality standards, resulting in rums that express a strong and authentic identity. Each vintage reflects the art of mastered aging and the richness of its tropical terroir.
The VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) Old Rum , bottled at 43%, is the result of prolonged aging in oak barrels, which gives it a superior aromatic complexity. More elaborate than the VO, this VSOP embodies DBM's move upmarket, aimed at demanding amateurs as well as curious neophytes eager to explore the nuances of an exceptional old rum.
Its amber color with copper highlights reveals a refined nose, dominated by aromas of dried fruits, vanilla and blond tobacco, accompanied by woody touches and subtle spices. On the palate, the texture is generous and velvety, opening onto flavors of caramel, honey, toasted hazelnut and cocoa, with a beautiful harmony between sweetness and body. The finish, long and elegant, leaves a lasting impression with sweet spices and toasted oak. This VSOP rum delicately expresses Bonne-Mère's expertise in the art of aging.
