Domaine Cassagne & Vitailles – Clas Mani – 2021
Domaine Cassagne & Vitailles, located in the hills of Languedoc, was born from Matthieu Cassagne and Rodolphe Vitailles' passion for great terroir wines. With an artisanal and nature-friendly approach, they showcase the clay-limestone and schist soils of Montpeyroux and its surrounding areas. Their philosophy: to produce wines with a distinctive character, combining freshness, elegance, and depth, capable of rivaling the greatest French appellations.
Clas Mani is one of the estate's flagship vintages. Made from a blend dominated by Grenache and Syrah, complemented by a touch of Mourvèdre, it comes from old vines rooted in high-altitude terroirs. The 2021 vintage, marked by contrasting weather and lower yields, produced concentrated and balanced wines, combining aromatic intensity and natural freshness. Clas Mani perfectly illustrates the estate's ambition: to create a great Languedoc wine for aging.
The deep garnet color with purple highlights reflects a beautiful maturity. The nose expresses itself intensely with notes of black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), spices, garrigue and licorice. On the palate, the attack is ample and velvety, supported by firm but elegant tannins. The dense and generous body is balanced by a mineral freshness and tension that lengthen the finish. This, persistent, combines black fruits, pepper and Mediterranean herbs, confirming the aging potential of this racy wine.
