Domaine Jérémy Recchione - Hautes Côtes de Nuits - Red 2024
In the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, Jérémy Recchione belongs to a generation of winemakers who view Burgundy with a new freedom, never losing the sense of place. His journey has been gradually built around micro-volumes, a close connection to high-altitude plots, and a search for wines that are lightly made-up, capable of conveying a direct emotion. The estate is part of a more discreet Burgundy than the great villages of the Côte, but whose potential is increasingly evident today. In Curtil-Vergy, the Hautes-Côtes offer a cooler, more ventilated setting where Pinot Noir naturally retains momentum and a form of tension. This 2024 red precisely reflects this spirit: a high-altitude bottle, built more on finesse, drinkability, and grain than on density. Production remains very limited, which enhances the appeal of this cuvée already sought after by lovers of artisanal Burgundy. It presents a sincere, lively, finely chiseled Pinot Noir, with that digestible energy that today makes the charm of great wines from the Hautes-Côtes.
This cuvée comes from Pinot Noir grown on the terroir of Curtil-Vergy, in the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits appellation. The clay-limestone soils and high-altitude white marls contribute to the wine's definition, bringing natural freshness, fine structure, and a discreet mineral sensation. The vinification is done with a high proportion of whole bunches, indicated around 80%, a choice that brings relief, floral notes, and a noble vegetal tension when the grape is ripe. After a three-day cold pre-fermentation maceration, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for about fifteen days. Slow pressing and racking into 228-liter barrels then allow the material to be supported without hardening it. The eleven-month aging gives the wine some depth, but the style remains guided by freshness, fruit, and the delicacy of Pinot Noir. With only a few thousand bottles produced according to available sources, this 2024 Hautes-Côtes de Nuits retains a confidential dimension that perfectly matches the spirit of the estate.
The color presents as a clear ruby red, bright, faithful to a measured extraction and a Pinot Noir worked for its transparency. The nose evokes fresh cherry, raspberry, redcurrant, and wild strawberry, then reveals notes of peony, fine pepper, ripe stalk, and wet stone. On the palate, the attack is supple, lively, carried by a clear fruit and a slender texture. The whole bunch brings relief without rigidity, with fine, slightly chalky tannins that give the wine a beautiful structure. The ensemble favors length, freshness, and energy rather than width, in a very digestible register already very appealing to lovers of high-altitude Burgundy. The finish returns to tangy red fruits, sweet spices, and a saline sensation that extends the wine with precision. This red will pair very well with roasted poultry, herb-crusted pork tenderloin, fine grilled meats, seared tuna, sautéed mushrooms, Japanese cuisine around duck, or a lightly aged soft cheese. Served around 14 to 15°C, after slight aeration in its youth, it will fully express its fruit, grain, and the freshness of Curtil-Vergy.
