Domaine Sant Armettu - Rosumarinu Blanc 2025
Between the Corsican mountains and the waters of the Valinco Gulf, Domaine Sant Armettu cultivates a deeply Mediterranean identity. Its family history began in 1964, when Paul Seroin settled on the heights of the Baracci valley, attracted by the viticultural potential of these wild lands. His son Gilles gave new momentum to the estate by creating his own winery in 1996, before gradually developing a range of wines that honor the traditional grape varieties of the island. The estate takes its name from an ancient healing hermit who is said to have lived on these lands, surrounded by the aromatic plants of the maquis. Today, the Seroin family cultivates several terroirs in southern Corsica, including the slopes of Tizzano, where the granitic soils and maritime influences shape wines of great personality. It is in this environment that Rosumarinu was born, whose name means "rosemary" in the Corsican language. This cuvée expresses a bright and accessible vision of Sartène wines, combining the character of island grape varieties with a constant pursuit of freshness and elegance.
Rosumarinu Blanc 2025 comes from the slopes of Tizzano, whose clay-granite scree soils provide a particularly interesting environment for Mediterranean white grape varieties. Its blend combines 90% Vermentinu, the emblematic grape variety of Corsica, with 10% Biancu Ghjentile, an ancient variety that contributes to the richness of the island's viticultural heritage. The first brings aromatic freshness and floral delicacy, while the second adds personality and complexity to the whole. The Seroin family favors organic viticulture, attentive to the preservation of soils and the biodiversity that characterizes this landscape. After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and carefully sorted before undergoing direct pressing. The juices benefit from cold settling for forty-eight hours, then the vinification takes place entirely in stainless steel tanks to preserve their aromatic purity. Aging continues on fine lees, accompanied by light bâtonnage that adds texture without compromising the wine's natural liveliness.
Rosumarinu Blanc 2025 reveals a pale yellow robe with delicately golden reflections, announcing a wine whose freshness is the guiding thread. Its bouquet opens with aromas of citrus, white flowers, and white-fleshed fruits, accompanied by a discreet hint of the aromatic plants of the Corsican maquis. On the palate, the attack is frank and bright, supported by well-integrated acidity that immediately brings energy. The texture gradually gains breadth thanks to aging on fine lees, offering a seductive balance between roundness and tension. The finish, persistent and slightly saline, extends the lemony and floral notes while recalling the proximity of the Mediterranean. This white favors the pleasure of youth, when its aromatic expression retains all its brilliance, but can also evolve favorably over a few years. It will pair particularly well with scallop carpaccio with citrus, grilled langoustines, roasted sea bass with fennel, or linguine with clams, not forgetting fish and Mediterranean specialties flavored with fresh herbs.
