RHUM BALLY - Decanter - Grande Cuvée du Siècle - 100 years - 45%
The Maison J. Bally holds a foundational place in the history of Martinican agricole rum. Founded by Jacques Bally at the beginning of the 20th century, it was one of the first to apply to rums a philosophy inspired by the great French eaux-de-vie, working exclusively with fresh cane juice and placing great importance on aging. As early as 1917, Jacques Bally made the innovative choice of aging in oak barrels, then in 1924, the house adopted its famous triangular bottles, which became iconic. The historic distillery ceased operations in 1989, before the production of Bally rums was transferred to the Distillerie du Simon, continuing the brand’s heritage. Bally remains today synonymous with tradition, longevity, and prestige.
The Grande Cuvée du Siècle – Decanter – 100 years was created to celebrate the centenary of the Bally distillery. This exceptional cuvée takes the form of a prestige decanter, conceived as a tribute to the long passage of time and the house’s heritage. It is a very rare blend of rums from the vintages 1929, 1939, 1955, 1975, and 2008, bringing together nearly a century of history in a single bottle. Each vintage brings its own signature, building a complex and deep aromatic architecture. Bottled at 45%, this Grande Cuvée du Siècle is above all a commemorative and heritage piece, produced in very limited quantities, intended for discerning enthusiasts and collectors.
On tasting, this Grande Cuvée du Siècle offers an expression of remarkable depth. The nose reveals a complex palette blending noble wood, cocoa, dried fruits, soft spices, ripe cane and notes of elegant rancio, signatures of very great old rums. The palate is ample, silky and perfectly blended, with great aromatic richness without heaviness. The flavors unfold harmoniously, supported by a controlled structure and exceptional length. The finish is long, warm and refined, leaving a lasting impression of nobility and balance. This rum is best enjoyed neat, slowly, or kept as a major collector’s bottle, a witness to a century of know-how. A historic, rare, and emblematic cuvée that embodies the soul of Bally.
