SANTA TERESA 1796 Cocoa Cask Finish 43%
An iconic Venezuelan house, Santa Teresa presents 1796 with an elegant interpretation of the Hispanic style. Controlled fermentation, precise distillation, and long aging in the solera system create a silky profile, underscored by a subtle freshness. This Cacao Cask Finish edition introduces an additional gourmet touch while respecting the house's DNA.
This vintage blends molasses rums patiently aged in soleras, then refined for several months in barrels prepared around the world of cocoa. The barrels, previously impregnated with noble materials from the bean, bring a praline and spicy relief without weighing down the structure. Aged at 43% to gain aromatic precision and texture. Released in France in 2025, this vintage is available in limited quantities depending on our arrivals.
The nose reveals notes of fine cocoa, orange peel, and light vanilla, joined by toasted walnuts, light honey, and a hint of blond tobacco. The palate is full-bodied and clean, with a silky texture, crème brûlée, noble molasses, and roasted hazelnut. Accents of sweet coffee and baking spices structure the whole. The finish is long and clean, blending milk chocolate, candied orange, and a touch of toasted wood.
At the table or bar, serve neat between 16 and 18°C in a tulip glass, or over a large ice cube to tighten the texture. Excellent base for an Old Fashioned with cocoa syrup and orange bitters, a chocolatey El Presidente, or a balanced Rumtini Espresso. Pairs well with chocolate fondant, pecan pie, roasted pineapple, or mature hard cheese.
