Château DE MALLE 2003
The family of the Counts of Bournazel has been present in the Bordeaux region since the beginning of the 17th century, when Jacques de Malle, their direct ancestor, built the Château de Malle. Shortly before the revolution, the elder branch of the family moved to Château d'Yquem while the younger branch stayed at Château de Malle. In 1855, the Sauternes family saw its "Château de Malle" elected among the famous classified growths.
The Malle vineyard, covering an area of some 50 hectares, spanning three municipalities: it has the originality and the particularity of being straddled by two prestigious appellations (Sauternes and Graves).
The Sauternes terroir represents 28 hectares and includes three grape varieties: Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle. Each year, the harvest is done by hand according to tradition by successive sorting, each grain being picked only perfectly "roasted". Depending on the year, 3 to 5 sorts are necessary. The yield is minimal.
