Champagne Dhondt Grellet - In a First Time - Extra Brut
Domaine Dhondt-Grellet is located in Flavigny , just outside Avize , in the heart of the Côte des Blancs de Champagne . The 6-hectare vineyard is planted with Chardonnay (in the communes of Cramant, Chouilly and Cuis) and Pinot Noir in Avenay-Val-d'Or in the Grande Vallées de la Marne. In 1986, Eric Dhondt and Edith Grellet decided to stop selling grapes to merchants and launched Dhondt-Grellet. Their son, Adrien , now in his twenties, took over the winemaking and quickly took his family's wines to another level. He slowly expanded the range of Champagnes produced by isolating their holdings across the villages of Cramant and Cuis and bottling the pure expressions of Chardonnay.
Dans Un Premier Temps is a blend of Chardonnay (50%) from Sézanne , Pinot Noir (30%) from Auvenay Val d'Or, and Pinot Meunier (20%) from Cuis. This cuvée is a representation of the three villages where Adrien works. The base vintage (2020) represents 70% of the blend, with the remainder coming from a perpetual reserve dating back to 1986. The wine is vinified in stainless steel vats and barrels. It was bottled in May 2021 and disgorged in December 2023. The dosage is Extra-Brut at 3 g/L.
Grape varieties: 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier
