Domaine Jean Paul JAMET - Côte Rotie 2018
Domaine Jean-Paul et Corinne Jamet is located near the village of Ampuis in the Côte-Rôtie appellation, in the Rhône Valley. The estate is located on a plateau called "Le Vallin" where the vines are cultivated on steep slopes and terraces commonly named "chayets". The vines grow on a subsoil mainly made up of schists and granite. Jean-Paul Jamet started making wine alongside his father Joseph in 1976. Together they developed the work of viticulture and winemaking, but Jean-Paul quickly took the initiative and the decisions. Today, Loïc, the son of Jean-Paul and Corinne, also works on the property.
The Côte-Rôtie is made from Syrah harvested from 20 parcels, essentially in whole bunches. Some of the plots are Fongeant, Côte Blonde, Landonne, Côte Rozier, Plomb, Chavaroche, Moutonnes, Lésardes, Gerine, Truchet, Leyat, Bonnivières, Côte Bodin, Tartaras and Rochins. The maceration lasts about three weeks then the wine is aged for 22 months in barrels, 15% of which are new. It has an ageing potential of 15 to 25 years.
