Clos Maïa - White 2020
Clos Maïa is located in La Vacquerie-et-Saint-Martin-de-Castries, in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation in Languedoc . The estate belongs to Géraldine Laval , originally from the south of Charente-Maritime. She completed a BTS Viticulture-Oenology in Beaune and completed her first internship with Olivier Leflaive in 2004. From 2005 to 2006, Géraldine completed her national oenologist diploma in Bordeaux and assisted Jean-Louis Chave at Hermitage for his 2006 vintage. It was in 2007, after obtaining her diploma, that she relocated to the high altitude terroirs of the Terrasses du Larzac. She meets Olivier Jullien from Mas Jullien who will inspire her in the vineyard and in the cellar. She began her adventure in 2009 with two plots of Grenache planted in the heart of the Cirque de Labeil. Today, the plot extends over 6 hectares cultivated in organic farming in the process of certification .
Clos Maïa Blanc is a blend of Grenache Gris (40%), Chenin Blanc (40%), Roussanne (15%) and Terret Bouret (5%) . The grapes are harvested manually and rigorously selected on the plot. They are pressed directly and then settled by gravity in 24 hours. The must is racked in vats to let it begin its fermentation naturally. From the start of fermentation, it is intoned into 500-litre demi-muids where fermentation and aging take place, which lasts about 12 months .
