Château de Ferrand - Magnum 2010
Château de Ferrand is located in Saint-Emilion , on the right bank of the Bordeaux wine region. It was founded in 1702 by Elie de Bétoulaud, and belonged to the Bétoulaud family until 1978, when it was sold to the Bich family, owners of the Bic company. Today, the Château de Ferrand is the property of Pauline Bich Chandon-Moët and her husband Philippe Chandon-Moët. The 42-hectare vineyard is planted on the clay-limestone plateau at an altitude of around 100 meters, which makes it one of the highest vineyards in the Saint-Émilion appellation. Following a mapping of the soils and subsoils and a land consolidation, the Château de Ferrand undertook a replanting program by adapting the choice of its plant material to the different types of soil present on the property. No herbicide has been used on the estate for fifteen years and since 2012, the château has been engaged in a search for environmental balance.
Château de Ferrand 2010 is a blend of Merlot (75%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) . The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels , and marketed after 5 years of age.
