Bodegas Muga - Muga Blanco 2021
Bodegas Muga is located in Haro, in the Rioja region of Spain . The family business was founded by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño in 1932. The Muga vineyard extends over 250 hectares, in several plots: El Estepal, La Loma, Baltracones, La Loma Alta and Sajazarra. These vineyards are located at different altitudes, on varied soils, which makes it possible to adapt each terroir to the best grape varieties. Bodegas Muga has four fermentation rooms containing 90 wooden barrels of various sizes. Thanks to this wide range, Bodegas Muga can produce wines of different styles depending on the quality of the fruit and the vineyards from which they come. Muga is one of the few producers in Spain to have its own cooperage.
Muga Blanco is a blend of Viura, Garnacha Blanca and Malvasia de Rioja . The grapes are harvested manually then placed in short skin maceration. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats and lightly toasted new French oak barrels from Nevers. The wine is aged for 4 months in barrels with stirring twice a week during the first months, then once a day for the last month.
