Champagne Oudiette - The Gras d'Huile 2021
The Oudiette estate is located in Beaunay, in the Marne Valley in Champagne . Founded nearly 100 years ago, it is now run by Maxime, Pascal and Sylvie Oudiette . The estate covers approximately 4 hectares , spread between Beaunay and Celles-lès-Condé, and the average age of the vineyard is 39 years. Within the estate, the Napoleonic land register of 1821 is used to identify and name the plots. More precise and less simplified than the current administrative land register, it allows for a better understanding of local ecosystems and microclimates.
Les Gras d'Huile is made from Chardonnay from the eponymous plot planted between 1993 and 2004. The soils of the Les Gras d'Huile plot are worked under the vines only, the remainder being protected by a cover naturally planted with native plants. This Blanc de Blancs comes mainly from the 2021 harvest (79%), supplemented by perpetual reserve wines from the 2015 to 2020 vintages (21%). The wine is aged for 11 months in 228-liter barrels then 30 months on slats . It was disgorged in October 2024 and bottled with an Extra-Brut dosage of 1.5 g/L .
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
"As is the 2021 vintage, tension and freshness take precedence over richness: Les Gras d'Huile 2021 seduces with a chiseled structure, a chalky salinity, and a long and vibrant finish. A sincere and minimalist expression of a living terroir."
