RUM A1710 - White Rum - La Perle - Vintage 2024 - 54.5%
The A1710 distillery is located on the Habitation du Simon, in François, on the Atlantic coast of Martinique, in the heart of a landscape of sugarcane and mangroves swept by the trade winds. A family-run artisanal house, it has chosen to work in small batches, entirely focused on enhancing the pure juice of freshly pressed cane. The canes are hand-harvested from carefully selected plots, then immediately transported to the mill to preserve their aromatic freshness. A1710 stands out by using a copper pot still with a retort combined with a small column, a rare combination that allows the creation of highly precise white rums. Each batch is numbered, bottled, and finished on-site, in a process ensuring full traceability and transparency. La Perle has become the distillery’s iconic cuvée, a true emblem of the A1710 style, balancing intensity, finesse, and length.
La Perle Vintage 2024 54.5% is an agricultural white rum made exclusively from pure fresh cane juice, selected plot by plot for its aromatic richness. After pressing, the juice ferments slowly under precise temperature control to develop complex aromas without losing the vegetal tension of the juice. Distillation takes place in the in-house copper pot still, complemented by a small column that allows the heart of the distillation to be refined with great delicacy. The final strength of 54.5% is chosen to highlight the personality of the distillate, with a controlled power that remains perfectly clear on the palate. No additives or sugar are used, faithful to A1710’s artisanal and transparent philosophy, which claims the purest expression of the cane and the Martinican terroir. This 2024 vintage stands out for a particularly precise balance between aromatic richness, tension, and length, crafted for lovers of great white rums for tasting as well as demanding mixologists.
On the palate, La Perle Vintage 2024 appears clear and bright, with an intense nose dominated by fresh crunchy cane, lemongrass, lime zest, and notes of fine herbs. Upon airing, nuances of white pepper, white flowers, cane sugar, and a slight iodine touch evoking the proximity of the ocean emerge. On the palate, the attack is frank and energetic, supported by the 54.5% strength that unfolds a broad yet remarkably controlled body. The cane expresses itself in a register both juicy and crystalline, crossed with notes of citrus, very fresh stone fruits, and fine spicy touches. The texture is vibrant, almost tactile, but the alcohol remains perfectly integrated, providing length without burn. The finish is very long, clean, saline, with a persistent return to cane, citrus, and a delicate noble bitterness that invites the next sip. Served neat, slightly chilled, La Perle 2024 is a great contemplative rum, but it also elevates a high-level ti punch, a dry daiquiri, or iodine and spicy cuisine.
