Domaine de la Bergerie de l'Arcade - Magnum 2022
The Domaine de la Bergerie de l’Arcade is run by Pascal and Gilles Soulas, two brother winemakers settled on the heights of Aniane, in Hérault, in the heart of the Languedoc. Coming from a family historically rooted in these lands, long dedicated to fruit trees, they turned to viticulture in the 2010s with a clear ambition: to produce sincere wines, deeply connected to their place. The project was born on two confidential hectares located in the Brousses area, acquired with the advice of Laurent Vaillé (La Grange des Pères), a guiding figure of the region. The Bergerie de l’Arcade today embodies artisanal viticulture, on a human scale, attentive to life and guided more by common farming sense than by fashion trends. Each wine is conceived as an honest expression of the Aniane landscape.
The Bergerie de l’Arcade 2022 in Magnum is the most generous and convivial expression of the estate, enhanced by a format that promotes harmony and aging potential. Coming from carefully worked plots on the slopes of Aniane, this wine benefits from a sunny but balanced 2022 vintage, offering ripe material without excess. The vinification is carried out gently, with a low-intervention approach, to preserve the brightness of the fruit and the clarity of the terroir. The aging remains deliberately measured, designed to accompany the wine without marking it. The magnum adds an extra dimension: slower evolution, a more integrated texture, and an even more accomplished expression at the table.
On tasting, the Bergerie de l’Arcade 2022 in magnum shows itself to be generous, lively, and deeply indulgent. The nose evokes ripe and warm fruits, lifted by discreet Mediterranean notes. The palate is supple, ample, and balanced, supported by a natural freshness that makes the wine very digestible despite its richness. The magnum format accentuates the sensation of fluidity and harmony, with a long and welcoming finish. It is a wine made for sharing, ideal on a large table with roasted meats, stews, Southern cuisine, or simply to accompany a convivial moment among friends. A bottle that tells a story of a place, a family, and a certain sincere idea of the Languedoc.
