Jérôme Bretaudeau - Domaine de Bellevue - Maceration - Pinot Gris 2024
The Domaine de Bellevue is managed by Jérôme Bretaudeau, a key winemaker in the Nantes vineyard, recognized for his visionary and parcel-specific approach to terroir wines. Based in Gétigné, he works his estate using biodynamics, with a rare focus on soils, precise ripeness, and long-term timing. Jérôme Bretaudeau has established himself as a craftsman of detail, capable of revealing unique expressions of sometimes unexpected grape varieties in the region. His work goes beyond the classic appellation frameworks, with an assumed freedom always guided by taste and balance. The wines of Domaine de Bellevue are now sought after for their depth, energy, and strong identity.
The cuvée Maceration – Pinot Gris 2024 illustrates this freedom of tone and constant curiosity. Made from Pinot Gris, a grape variety rarely worked in Nantes, this cuvée is vinified by skin maceration, resulting in a white maceration wine, outside the appellation. The 2024 vintage favors freshness and drinkability while retaining a beautiful body. The vinification emphasizes gentle extraction of aromatic compounds and texture, without seeking excessive power. The aging is conducted with restraint to preserve the wine’s energy and the clarity of the grape variety. This cuvée is part of the estate’s experimental and expressive range, conceived as a wine of character but accessible.
On tasting, Maceration – Pinot Gris 2024 charms with its intense aromatic profile and enveloping texture. The nose evokes citrus zest, ripe yellow fruits, soft spices, and a subtle floral touch. On the palate, the wine offers a broad body, structured by fine tannins from the maceration, perfectly integrated. The balance between freshness, texture, and aromatic expression makes the wine very digestible and particularly enjoyable. The finish is persistent, slightly spicy, and saline. This cuvée pairs ideally with spicy cuisine, vegetarian dishes, Asian cuisine, aged cheeses, or dishes with marked textures. A vibrant, expressive, and decidedly gastronomic maceration wine.
