Champagne Alexandre Grimée - Sous Les Trous 2022 - Brut Nature
Champagne Alexandre Grimée Sous Les Trous 2022 Brut Nature is one of those confidential cuvées that embody the new artisanal Champagne scene. Based in Azy-sur-Marne, Alexandre Grimée works a tiny vineyard of about one hectare, with almost gardener-like precision. His plots are mainly located in Bonneil, in a natural amphitheater facing south, in the heart of the Marne Valley. Sous Les Trous is one of the essential named plots of the estate, a parcel that here gives birth to a rare and strongly identity-driven terroir Champagne. The 2022 vintage, sunny and generous, brings concentration, maturity, and a beautiful density of fruit. With only 2,723 bottles produced, this cuvée remains highly sought after and naturally intended for enthusiasts. It is a Champagne for lovers, winemakers, and place, designed for those who seek rare, precise, and deeply artisanal bottles.
The Sous Les Trous 2022 cuvée is made exclusively from Pinot Meunier, a historic grape variety of the Marne Valley. The grapes come from the named plot Sous Les Trous, in Bonneil, on a clay-limestone terroir marked by Bartonian marls. This soil provides volume, a sensation of fleshiness, and a mineral tension that balances the natural richness of the vintage. The vinification takes place in barrels, in an approach that gives more texture, complexity, and depth to the wine. Bottling took place in April 2023, followed by aging on lees in the cellar allowing the bubbles to gain finesse and the matter to build. The disgorgement in July 2025, without dosage, highlights the purity of the place and the precision of the wine. This Brut Nature does not seek ease but the direct expression of Meunier, the vintage, and the terroir of Bonneil.
