Champagne Marie Copinet - Extra Quality - Extra Brut
Located in Montgenost in the Côte de Sézanne region, Marie Copinet is run by Marie-Laure Copinet and Alexandre Kowal. As committed winemakers, they work without herbicides and favor clean viticulture, certified Terra Vitis, to reflect the chalky straightness of the hillsides of the southern Marne region. The house's style strives for a balance between pure fruit, precision, and measured maturity.
Extra Quality Extra Brut is a non-vintage blend made from equal parts of the three Champagne grape varieties. Vinification is carried out with minimal intervention, followed by aging on fine lees for at least ten months, then resting in the bottle for at least thirty-six months to blend the material and refine the bubbles. The extra brut dosage is low, around 4g per liter, for a clear reading of the terroir and controlled tension.
The nose opens with fresh pear, green apple, and delicate raspberries, enhanced by notes of light honey, puff pastry, and a hint of almond. The palate is straightforward and elegant, carried by a fine effervescence and lemony acidity that stretches the mid-palate toward flavors of juicy white fruits and citrus. The finish is long, dry, and precise, marked by a chalky minerality and a hint of fine pastry that calls for the next sip.
At the table, this vintage is the perfect accompaniment to oysters, citrus sea bass tartare, shellfish sushi, or sole meunière. It also pairs well with roasted poultry with herbs or a mature cheese such as Comté, whose texture and salinity complement the freshness of the wine.
Grape varieties: 33% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir, 33% Pinot Meunier
