Champagne Rémi Leroy - Blanc de Noirs Réserve
Located in Meurville, in the heart of the Côte des Bar, the Rémi Leroy house produces grower champagnes with a distinct identity. The vines, predominantly planted with Pinot Noir on slopes of clay and Kimmeridgian limestone, are cultivated with meticulous attention to soil health and optimal ripeness. The house style aims for precise, straightforward wines, deeply rooted in their terroir, where freshness never precludes richness.
Blanc de Noirs Réserve is a non-vintage cuvée that blends several years of Pinot Noir to capture the essence of the Côte des Bar beyond seasonal variations. The grapes are gently pressed, the juices carefully clarified, and then fermented in tanks and barrels according to the specific characteristics of each plot. Extended aging on the lees refines the structure and polishes the bubbles before a restrained dosage that allows the minerality to shine through. The result is a pure and luscious expression of Champagne Pinot Noir.
The nose opens with ripe pear, Reinette apple, and orange zest, quickly joined by hints of white almond, orchard blossoms, and a veil of delicate brioche. On the palate, the attack is direct, then the texture develops a chalky character that supports a core of white fruit and crisp red berries. The fine, precise effervescence extends the structure without heaviness. The finish is long, dry, and mouthwatering, with a return of citrus, a touch of sweet spice, and a hint of damp stone that is characteristic of the terroir.
At the table, this vintage pairs perfectly with oysters and shellfish, sea bream tartare with citrus, sole meunière, or pike-perch with beurre blanc sauce. It also harmonizes beautifully with roasted free-range poultry, truffled Parisian ham, brown mushroom risotto, and hard cheeses such as a mature Comté, whose sweetness balances its acidity.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir.
