Château Grand Village - Red - Magnum 2021
Château Grand Village, owned by the Guinaudeau family, who also run the legendary Château Lafleur in Pomerol, is located in Mouillac, on the right bank of the Bordeaux River near Fronsac. This historic estate is cultivated with the same high standards as its illustrious predecessor: plot-by-plot viticulture, manual labor, precise vinification, and absolute respect for the fruit. The goal is clear: to produce a wine with identity, sincerity, and a finesse rare for its appellation.
The 2021 Grand Village Rouge, presented here in magnum, perfectly illustrates this philosophy. Made from a balanced blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this cool-climate vintage produced a wine with beautiful tension, vibrant fruit, and a refined structure. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete vats, before partial aging in oak barrels, a small proportion of which are new, to preserve the purity of the fruit.
The nose offers precise aromas of fresh cherry, raspberry, and violet, supported by subtle notes of graphite and sweet spices. On the palate, the texture is supple and taut, with a straight structure and fine tannins. The wine combines freshness, brightness, and length, in a style that is both classic and modern. The finish, persistent and juicy, extends the tasting with nuances of crisp red fruits and wet stone.
A precise, elegant, and easy-drinking Bordeaux that will gain even more complexity over the years, with the magnum encouraging a slow, harmonious development. Serve between 16 and 17°C after a short aeration.
