Domaine Andrée - Les Faraunières 2019
In Saint Cyr-en-Bourg, Stéphane Erissé's Domaine Andrée has established itself as a benchmark in the Loire region thanks to its straightforward, precise, and intensely readable wines. Careful cultivation, measured yields, and minimally interventionist vinification methods serve up a nuanced interpretation of Anjou's terroirs. The Chenin whites shine with their energy and saline texture, sought after by gastronomy.
Les Faraunières 2019 comes from a hillside of clay and schist that brings tension and depth. A very high-quality vintage in the Loire, marked by perfectly maintained maturity and classic balance. Hand-harvested in small crates, slow pressing, gravity-fed settling, and indigenous fermentation. Aged on fine lees in barrels and tuns used for several wines for around twelve months with measured stirring, then left to rest in the bottle to blend the material. A confidential production. A favorite cuvée in our selection for its purity of fruit and mineral precision.
The nose opens with ripe lemon, William pear, and white peach, complemented by hawthorn blossom, a touch of pale honey, and a hint of wet chalk. The palate is full and sleek, with a clean attack followed by a silky texture supported by chiseled acidity. The mid-palate combines zesty citrus, fresh apple, and almond, with a savory salinity that lengthens the structure. The finish is long, straight, and delicately smoky, with a noble orange peel bitterness and a stony aftertaste that is characteristic of the terroir.
