Domaine Jacques Frédéric Mugnier - Nuits Saint Georges Clos des Fourches 2023
Located at Château de Chambolle-Musigny, Domaine Jacques Frédéric Mugnier pursues a pure expression of the limestone soils of the Côte de Nuits. Vine cultivation prioritizes precise ripening and delicate extraction to preserve the unique character of the terroir. The estate's style combines bright fruit, silky textures, and a fresh, lingering finish.
Clos des Fourches 2023 is the first vintage of this unique cuvée. The vineyard is located south of Nuits-Saint-Georges on shallow limestone soils that promote precise and elegant expression. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and then carefully sorted. Fermentation takes place with minimal intervention to preserve the integrity of the Pinot Noir. The wine is aged in lightly toasted oak barrels with a limited proportion of new oak. Bottling respects the purity of the juice and the expression of the terroir.
The nose opens with aromas of raspberry, Morello cherry, and wild strawberry. Aeration reveals peony, a hint of orange peel, and a stony nuance. The palate is precise and silky. The attack is crisp, followed by a heart of juicy red fruit carried by a fine, chalky texture. The tannins are precise and tight without harshness. The finish is long and mouthwatering with a touch of sweet spice, cherry pit, and a freshness that extends the persistence.
At the table, Clos des Fourches 2023 pairs well with pink veal fillet, free-range poultry with herbs, pigeon with chanterelles, or mushroom risotto. It also complements grilled ribeye steak, glazed root vegetables, and a mature Brie de Meaux that respects its delicate character.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
