Domaine Maxime Renaudin 2022
The Domaine Maxime Renaudin is a very young, exclusive estate in the Languedoc, located around the village of Jonquières, in Hérault. Created in 2018, it is led by Maxime Renaudin, a winemaker trained under the late Laurent Vaillé (La Grange des Pères), of whom he was one of the close collaborators. This lineage deeply marks the identity of the estate, both in the pursuit of finesse and in the vision of blended wine as the culmination of patient and demanding work. With only 5 hectares of vines, Maxime Renaudin embraces a consciously artisanal approach, currently producing a single red wine, outside appellation, but claimed as IGP Pays d’Hérault. A young project, but already closely watched by lovers of great wines from the South.
The Domaine Maxime Renaudin 2022 is a blended wine in the noblest Languedoc tradition, conceived as a foundational and age-worthy wine. It combines Syrah (40%), Carignan (40%), and Grenache (20%), from carefully tended plots around Jonquières. The harvest is fully destemmed, then each grape variety is vinified and aged separately before the final blend. The aging continues for 24 months in barrels, with a spirit of accompaniment and slow construction, without seeking an excessive oaky character. This long aging gives the wine its depth, coherence, and ability to evolve over time. The 2022 vintage continues the stylistic continuity of the estate: ambition, precision, and elegance rather than demonstrative power.
On tasting, the Domaine Maxime Renaudin 2022 offers an intense and refined profile, typical of great Languedoc blends. The nose expresses a deep bouquet of black fruits, spices, garrigue, and subtle floral notes. The palate is dense, structured, and generous, with a true sensation of flesh and depth. The tannins are present but fine, outlining an elegant framework that promises a very beautiful evolution over time. The balance between power and finesse clearly recalls the heritage of Laurent Vaillé, while asserting its own identity. It is a gastronomic wine, ideal with roasted meats, lamb, game, or elaborate Mediterranean cuisine, and it will benefit from being aged in the cellar to express all its complexity.
Grape varieties: 40% Syrah, 40% Carignan, 20% Grenache.
