Château Le Puy - Rose Marie 2024
Château Le Puy Rose-Marie 2024 is one of the most unique cuvées from the Amoreau family estate. Located in Saint-Cibard, on the heights of the right bank of Bordeaux, Château Le Puy has belonged to the same family since 1610. The estate cultivates a deeply distinctive identity in the Bordeaux landscape, far from technical standards and formatted wines. Its vineyard, worked for generations without synthetic chemicals, is based on a holistic approach to life, biodiversity, and soil balance. Rose-Marie embodies this freedom with a rare, intense, and deeply original gastronomic rosé. Produced in only a few thousand bottles each year, this confidential cuvée holds a very special place in the Château Le Puy range. The 2024 vintage offers a fresh, juicy, and vibrant expression, ideal for lovers of characterful rosés.
The cuvée is made exclusively from Merlot, the emblematic grape variety of the Bordeaux right bank. The wine is born from a bleeding performed on a fermenting Merlot vat, a method that gives it more color, relief, and structure than a classic rosé. This approach produces a vinous, gastronomic, and profound wine, very far from pale and simply aromatic rosés. Fermentation and aging take place in demi-muids or used barrels, in the natural and low-intervention spirit of the estate. No addition of sulfur or synthetic products is sought, to preserve the direct expression of the fruit and the vintage. The style of Rose-Marie rests on the balance between the richness of Merlot, the freshness of the terroir, and a slight tannic frame. The result is a rare, free, and expressive Bordeaux rosé, capable of holding its place at the table as a true gastronomic wine.
In the glass, Rose-Marie 2024 reveals a deep pink robe, sometimes slightly ruby, immediately announcing a wine of substance. The nose opens on strawberry, cherry, raspberry, redcurrant, and crunchy red berries, with a floral touch evoking peony. The palate is fluid, juicy, and very fresh, but with more relief than a traditional aperitif rosé. Fine tannins provide a delicate structure, while the finish extends the red fruit, grenadine, sweet spices, and a slightly saline sensation. This 2024 can be enjoyed young for its fruity brightness, but it also has enough depth to evolve over a few years. It will be remarkable with sorrel salmon, seared tuna, beef tataki, cold poultry, refined tapas, herb-based cuisine, or sheep's cheese. Serve around 10 to 12°C, in a wine glass, to respect its vinous and gastronomic dimension.
