Domaine d'Eugénie - Clos d'Eugénie 2023
Domaine d'Eugénie, established in Vosne-Romanée, is part of the great Burgundian tradition through the precision of its work and the purity of its style. Born on the foundations of the former René Engel estate, it embodies a modern and demanding vision of Pinot Noir, where each plot is cultivated as an entity in its own right. The care given to the vines, the manual harvest and the gravity-fed vinifications reflect a philosophy focused on the most sincere expression of the terroir.
The Clos d'Eugénie 2023 is the estate's flagship cuvée, produced from an exclusive plot located in the Vosne-Romanée appellation. Entirely enclosed by walls, this clos offers an ideal microclimate, combining generous sunshine and cool nighttime temperatures. The grapes, picked at perfect ripeness, are vinified by plot with partial destemming to preserve finesse and brightness. Aging for twelve months in oak barrels, a third of which are new, refines the structure and highlights the aromatic depth of the vintage.
The nose opens with precise aromas of black cherry, raspberry, and dried rose, enriched with nuances of sweet spices and undergrowth. On the palate, the wine displays a supple and concentrated body, supported by tannins of rare elegance. The balance between intensity and freshness marks a Vosne-Romanée that is both charming and distinguished. The finish, long and persistent, reveals a saline and floral touch that prolongs the tasting with precision.
It is the perfect accompaniment to veal fillet with morels, roast pigeon, or mature Brie de Meaux. Serve between 15 and 16°C, after a short airing.
