The Julien en Billat – The Terrible Child of the South 2024 cuvée from Domaine Ganevat, offered here in Magnum format, is a free and expressive red wine, born from a vintage marked by frost that deeply affected the vineyard. Faced with this climatic constraint, Jean-François Ganevat chose to blend grapes from all the estate's parcels, giving birth to a transversal cuvée deeply representative of the year. Made from pinot noir, poulsard, and trousseau, this wine claims a spontaneous and lively approach, faithful to the "terrible child" spirit that characterizes it. The Magnum format enhances freshness and promotes a slower, more harmonious evolution. The 2024 vintage highlights energy, indulgence, and the frankness of the fruit. The nose is immediately expressive, dominated by aromas of fresh and crunchy red fruits, evoking cherry, strawberry, and raspberry. Whole cluster vinification and cold semi-carbonic maceration bring brightness, freshness, and great digestibility. The tannins are very fine, almost imperceptible, allowing the fruit to express itself freely. The balance is supported by a natural acidity that lengthens the tasting. The finish is fresh, clean, and thirst-quenching.
Vinified with indigenous yeasts, without intervention, filtration, or added sulfur, the cuvée was aged for one year in a wooden tronconic vat. This aging method structures the wine while preserving its energy and spontaneity, qualities further enhanced by the Magnum format.
